boudoir sesh 101
Q : WHERE TO GO?
A : Location is up to you. A good space in your or a friend's home with lots of natural lighting (subject to approval from me), locations rented out for photo shoots such as Bungalow 1325 or Old South Collection, or a hotel room are all options. You are responsible for covering the rental fees for venues that require one, in addition to my session fee. During our initial conversations, I will provide you with a list of location options to choose from.
Q : MY FACE? MY HAIR?
A : I highly recommend having your hair and makeup done before your session - if you can swing professional, great; if not, you go girl! However much you want is completely up to you; I want you to feel and look your absolute best, but still remain comfortable, so if you love the bare faced, tousled bedhead look, then go for it; if you want full on Hollywood glam lips and big Texas hair, then I'm totally down for that too!
*** I don't offer hair and makeup services with solo sessions. These services are only included in group sessions and my Boudoir Marathons. But I do have recommendations for hair and makeup artists that I will send to you after booking that I and my clients have personally worked with and love.
Q : WHAT TO WEAR?
A : Choose whatever you love and what flatters your body the most. Whether you don a silky robe, barely-there lingerie and stilettos, a simple bra and underwear, or your birthday suit, I've worked with and am comfortable with it all. If you're a bride-to-be, bringing along your veil to incorporate into some shots is a GREAT idea. After booking, I will send you a list of the best places to find lingerie besides Victoria's Secret!
Q : I DON'T WANT MY SEXY ALL OVER THE WEB!
A : No worries! In the contract you will sign you have the option to allow or not allow me to share your images on my blog and/or social media for marketing purposes. I realize these images are personal, so I don't automatically use them without specific permission. You have the choice to allow me to share them or not, and the contract goes into more detail about that. Even if you allow me to use your images, I never tag my clients in them.
Q : WHAT IS YOUR BOOKING PROCESS?
A : If you're ready to do this and have some fun, let me know what time and date options you're thinking, and I'll send over the contract for you to review and complete. When you complete the contract, a non-refundable deposit (which then gets deducted from your total investment) will be required to hold your date and time. The balance will be due anytime before the day of the session.
Q : HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL I RECEIVE?
A : I value quality over quantity, so I handpick the best of the best images from your session. I don't box myself in with an exact number of images you'll receive as every session is unique, but on average, you can expect between 70-90 hand-edited photos for a solo session.
Q : DO YOU GIVE RAW FILES?
A : Nope! Part of the beauty of photography, and one of the parts that makes one photographer different from another, is their editing process. I take pride in shooting, but also and just as importantly, taking those images and creating art out of them. I don't over edit - and I don't even use Photoshop! - but my editing process is what makes me stand out and what brings my style alive. To provide unedited images to my clients wouldn't be a fair representation of my work, and in turn, wouldn't show potential future clients what I can provide them.
Q : CAN YOU MAKE ME TEN POUNDS LIGHTER AND GIVE ME A BOOB JOB??
A : Hell no, girl, and even if I wanted to, I wouldn't! I don't shoot these sessions to make you look like someone else. Each photograph I present you with is an accurate (although extra flattering, due to the magic of angles and lighting) representation of who you are at this time in your life. You looked different 10 years ago, and you'll look different in the next 10 years ... but this session is focusing on how you look now, because you know what, you're perfect exactly the way you are RIGHT.NOW.
From a technical standpoint, I take an enormous amount of pride and time while editing boudoir sessions so your REAL becomes enhanced. I will smooth skin, remove bruises, scratches, under eye circles/bags, stray hairs, blemishes, etc., remove distractions from the background, and anything else I deem necessary to make that one image the way I envision it. I will not liquify or change your body shape or remove birthmarks, moles, stretch marks, etc. Tattoos are on a case by case basis; by default, I keep them as is, unless you tell me to remove them, and then it just depends on the size/placement/etc. if removal is possible.
Q : HOW LONG BEFORE I GET MY DIGITAL ALBUM?
A : You'll receive all your digital images via an online album called Pixieset. I pride myself on a quick and reasonable turnaround for all my sessions. Who the heck wants to wait 6 weeks to see their photos?! I know I sure wouldn't, so I wouldn't do that to you. Within 2-3 weeks after your session you'll have your boudoir album in your digital hands to drool over.
Q : TELL ME ABOUT THE REAL ALBUM!
A : The computer is no place to hide these treasures, so let's move them to the nightstand at least! If you chose the collection that includes an album, here's what you'll get : a high end, professionally designed 8 x 8" black, genuine Italian leather album, with twenty layflat, lustre, ultra-thick pages featuring 20 of your most favorite images we create together.
